Running along the river bank! On 26 May 2012, for the 36th time, the Twistesee Run will take place. “Our event is one of the oldest popular runs in Northern Hesse. It’s a real classic,” emphasizes organizer Heinrich Kuhaupt from Bad Arolsen, not without pride.

On car-free streets, bike lanes and country roads, cyclists and skaters can enjoy the Edertal undisturbed: from Erndtebrück via Frankenberg and Lake Edersee up to Fritzlar and Felsberg. The whole region turns out to present itself along the route. Visitors can expect the atmosphere of a popular party. Particular attractions and events invite a person to stay a little longer and make the tour through the Edertal a unique event. In addition, local culinary specialties and refreshments line the route and live music contributes to a good atmosphere.

Once a year the town of Bad Wildungen, a nice spa town in the Waldecker countryside, hosts a jazz festival. Well-known and less well-known musicians perform on four open air stages as well as in the town church and the Spritzenhaus. From New Orleans to Dixieland, gypsy jazz, salsa and swing right up to soul – on these two days there is something for every taste.

The Korbacher Altstadt-Kulturfest is without a doubt one of the highlights of the Waldecker Land as far as fun, good music and good all-round entertainment is concerned. From 9th to 12th august 2012 the traditional annual fair and cattle market will take place once again, the largest and most spectacular public event in Northern Hesse. For inhabitants as well as for guests from near and far, this is an annual summer highlight.
In an area of roughly ten hectares, starting at the beginning of August, some 60 funfair operators, 50 catering companies, 250 market stalls and a business exhibition with 120 exhibitors come together here. The wonderfully arranged spa park in Bad Wildungen has always had a special charm for its visitors. With Reinhardshausen, this is the largest spa park in Europe. Here visitors can wander among ancient trees and enjoy the roses and many other blooming flowers.
On 11th August, when this park will hopefully be enjoying a mild summer evening, bathed in the glow of some 15,000 candles, Bad Wildungen invites visitors to come to dream and dance in the park.

Once again in the golden month of October, the old Hansa town of Korbach invites visitors to its Medieval Market in the pedestrian zone of the town and the nearby Prof.-Kümmell-Straße right to the front of the Rathaus. The medieval market is not only evident from the many costumed figures which roam the city in the two days of the festival, but also from the stalls with all kinds of treats. There are baked goods, farmers’ dishes, pea and potato soup, freshly-made pancakes, both savoury and sweet, as well as apple doughnuts and waffles.

The Mühlenkopf Jump, built in 1925, was completely renovated in 1999/2000 and today represents the largest ski jumping hill in the world.
In Willingen, the elite ski jumpers meet annually to collect points for the world cup competition. Excitement and entertainment live! An unforgettable experience!
Funicular and person lifts inside the jump tower ease the laborious way up and offer a spectacular view of the imposing Mühlenkopf facility to visitors outside of competition events.
