Lakes Twiste, Diemel and Edersee – three lakes that have made a name for themselves in surfing circles. Each of these three lakes offers optimum surfing conditions for beginners and pros alike. Surf schools and boat rentals with surfing equipment are available.
On Lake Edersee, you may choose different locations depending on how the winds are blowing. Bringhausen, with its large bight and light but sustained winds, offers optimum conditions to get started.
For easterly or westerly winds, however, the Waldecker Basin is the preferred spot, taking up most of Lake Edersee. Often compared with the thermal wind region of Lake Garda in Italy, Lake Edersee is a demanding estuary where tactical sailing will be important.
Lakes Diemel and Twiste also offer great surfing conditions.
