Castles & Palaces
There are many castles and palaces in the ‘Waldecker Land’, we will introduce you to the four largest of them. The baroque Residenzschloss in Bad Arolsen, the construction of which was modeled on Versailles and is considered the symbol of the city now.
Schloss Friedrichstein cannot be missed as it is located on a mountain high above the beautiful resort town of Bad Wildungen. Schloss Waldeck sits high above the Edersee as the premier landmark of the entire Edersee region. From there you have a magnificent view of the Edersee. Located on the outskirts of Volkmarsen, the Kugelsburg is an old castle ruin with an accessible tower and a viewing platform.
