The Gold Mine
Experience gold mining at Germany’s richest gold deposit...
Welcome to Germany’s largest gold deposit – the ‘Eisenberg’ near Korbach. Put on your rubber boots and helmet – and let’s go explore the legendary gold lode.
Shafts, strata and minerals tell of millions of years of the Earth’s history, the energy-consuming work of medieval miners and the recurring attempts of modern adventurers from all over the world to retrieve the noble ore of the ‘Waldecker Land’. The exhibition mine in the former mining settlement of Goldhausen offers an exciting and educational adventure.
Retrace the steps of gold seekers at the Eisenberg. Castle ruins and a lookout tower invite you to make further discoveries (Historischer Goldbergbau Eisenberg e.V.).
