The Uplandsteig – a ‘Hiking in Germany’ Quality Trail

With a length of 64 km, this trail leads around the town of Willingen (Upland) and touches on all nine of its quarters. Major ascents and steep descents are located mainly on the first 15 km, where 450 of a total of 1,487 meters in elevation gain are encountered.

The trail leads through mixed and beech forests, meadows, marshy lands and highland heaths. There are frequent signposts that include information on the kilometers walked. The trail has first obtained the quality seal ‘Quality Hiking Trail – Hiking in Germany’ in 2005 and has since been constantly recertified, the last time in 2014.

From Willingen, you may also explore the 154 km long ‘Rothaarsteig’, which runs from Brilon in the ‘Sauerland’ region via the ‘Wittgenstein Highlands’ and the ‘Siegerland’ region up to Dillenburg at the foot of the ‘Westerwald’ region.
