The Willinger alphorn fair

August 29th, 2021

A very special experience

The date in 2020 is CANCELED due to the Corona-Pandemie

On August 29, 2021, the wake-up call of numerous alphorns will be heard again at 8:00 am on the Willinger mountains. They call for the alphorn church service on the Ettelsberg. The owner oft the hut, Siggi von der Heide, the Catholic parish of St. Augustinus Willingen and the Protestant parish of Willingen invite every year to this ecumenical mountain service.

The main players on this day are, of course, the numerous alphorn players, music groups, singers and bands from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, who gather after the wake-up call on Willingen's well-known local mountain, the Ettelsberg, to make this service musically. Afterwards they provide with their performances an entertaining afternoon at the foot of the Hochheideturm on the Ettelsberg.

Anyone who has ever taken part in the Alpine service, will definitely come back, because the atmosphere and the view over the Willinger mountain panorama make you feel very close to the sky. It is not for nothing that around 5,000 Christians attend the service every year.
Look forward to the next alphorn service on August 29, 2021 at 11.30. You can start with a hike to the alphorn service or take the Ettelsberg cable lift up to the 838 m high Ettelsberg. In hopefully good weather, the mountain service will again be an impressive and cheerful event with folk festival character.
