During the golden month of October, the old Hanseatic town of Korbach regularly invites folks to visit the ‘Medieval Fair’, which is held in the pedestrian zone and the adjacent ‘Prof.-Kümmell-Strasse’ all the way down to the town hall. In 2018, the market will take place on October 13th and 14th. The ‘Medieval Fair’ features many costumed characters roaming through the town as well as numerous booths with the most diverse products.
The ‘Medieval Fair’ extends from the train station to the town hall and has been presenting crafts, military camps and knights, minstrels, jesters, jugglers and much, much more for more than 20 years. It offers a very interesting glimpse of life during this historic period.
During the ‘Medieval Fair’, an alluring fragrance of spices wafts over Korbach’s old town center. If your taste buds yearn for something savory, good recommendations would include a crispy roast, the so-called ‘Weckewerk’ (a type of sausage made from cooked head cheese and ground meat) or a hearty stew. Also, try the market beer, which is specially brewed for the ‘Medieval Fair’ in Korbach.
