Bad Arolsen
Located in Waldeck holiday region, Bad Arolsen offers one of the most charming cityscapes in Germany. With its mild climate and high leisure value, the baroque residence town invites you to an unforgettable holiday. Romantic quarters, baroque townhouses, half-timbered buildings and the hospitable therapeutic baths lend Bad Arolsen its own individual touch - at any time of the year.
The annual ‘Baroque Festival’ is regarded as a grandiose staging of court life during that era. The classicist sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch and the history painter Wilhelm von Kaulbach were born in Bad Arolsen.
The Kaulbach family was among the most important painter dynasties of the 19th century in Germany. The birthplaces of both artists and the Christian Daniel Rauch Museum as well as the ‘Schreibersches Haus’ are part of ‘Museum Bad Arolsen’.
The town of Bad Arolsen, with its quarters of Braunsen, Bühle, Helsen, Kohlgrund, Landau, Massenhausen, Mengeringhausen, Neu-Berich, Schmillinghausen, Volkhardinghausen and Wetterburg, has 15.380 inhabitants (as of June 2020).
Free city tour (April to October): Saturdays at 3:00 p.m.
(Meeting point: the city tour sign in the Schloßstraße, in front of the ‘Residenzschloss’).
