Willingen
Willingen in the Upland – an experience in any season!
Whether cycling in the spring, family vacations in the summer, hiking in the fall or skiing in the winter - the abundance of holiday and leisure activities of the low-mountain region is unique in Germany.
In addition to numerous gastronomic offerings, Willingen attracts families, groups and day trip visitors with a variety of leisure activities.
Ice-skating at the indoor skating rink, a self-blown glass from the glass manufacture or a bike ride on the Downhill World Cup Course – basically, Willingen is a huge adventure playground for children and adults.
Friends of Willingen primarily appreciate the location for its numerous events such as the annual FIS World Cup Ski Jumping Competition or the Bike Festival that attract thousands of visitors.
For nature lovers and those looking for tranquility, a hike through the ‘Hochheide Nature Reserve’ is pure pleasure. Well-marked cycling and hiking trails, cozy cabins and cafés as well as small inns with a personal touch invite you to relax.
As a climatic health resort, Willingen scores points mainly on the basis of its prevention programs, activity weeks organized by corporate health insurance companies as well as the program ‘Holidays for Care-Giving Relatives’, which was awarded the ‘Hessian Tourism Award’ in 2013.
Willingen stands for relaxation and adventure, wellness and going-out – all at same time in the center of Germany – Willingen offers everything I want!
Including its town quarters of Bömighausen, Eimelrod, Hemmighausen, Neerdar, Rattlar, Schwalefeld, Usseln and Welleringhausen, the municipality of Willingen is home to about 6.096 inhabitants (as of December 2019).
The core municipality of Willingen is a winter sports area of international stature, a climatic health resort and an officially recognized ‘Kneipp’ resort, while Usseln is a climatic health resort and Schwalefeld a climatic spa.
